Do Sri Lankan passport holders need a transit visa for Singapore (SIN)?

No transit visa needed

No visa needed airside. Sri Lanka is not on Singapore's visa-required list, so entry is also possible without a visa.

For an airside connection at Singapore Changi Airport, Singapore: one ticket, bags checked through, onward flight to another country, no immigration.

Leaving the airport during the layover

Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi passport holders need a Singapore visa. Indians can instead use the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility with travel to or from a third country, an onward ticket within 96 hours, and a visa or long-term pass for Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the US valid for at least one month. Sri Lankans and Nepalis need no visa. Everyone entering files the SG Arrival Card.

Watch out

Separate tickets, or a low-cost booking that makes you collect bags and check in again, are not transit: you clear immigration and must meet the entry rules.

Checked on 25 October 2026 against these sources. Transit rules change often, and the airline and the immigration authority have the final say, so confirm with your airline before you travel.
