For a honeymoon that is warm, easy and not too far, Malaysia works well: three nights on Langkawi’s beaches, then two in Kuala Lumpur. Budget roughly ₹60,000 to ₹1,00,000 per person for six days, flights included, and complete the free arrival card three days before you fly.
Visa and entry rules for Indians
Indian passport holders do not need a visa for Malaysia right now, but the waiver runs only until 31 December 2026 unless it is extended again. The High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi’s entry requirements page, which we checked on 8 October 2026, says the visa waiver for Indian nationals runs until 31 December 2026, for up to 30 days, for business, tourism, social or transit purposes. It asks Indian travellers to have supporting documents ready for screening:
- A passport valid for at least six months.
- A confirmed return flight ticket.
- A confirmed hotel booking.
- The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), submitted online three days before the arrival date. It is free, one per traveller, at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main.
The same page lists “sufficient financial provisions” as a general entry condition but gives no cash amount. Carry a recent bank or card statement and some ringgit. Indian press has reported travellers being refused entry for missing documents, so keep the hotel voucher and tickets handy, even on a package.
Use only the official portal for the MDAC, and never pay to “register” it. If you travel after 31 December 2026, check the Malaysian Immigration Department first: you may need an eVisa.
What it costs in rupees
Per person, for a couple, mid-range, six days (three nights in Langkawi, two in Kuala Lumpur). These are our estimates for typical fares and rates and they move with season. One ringgit is roughly ₹20 to ₹22, so check the day’s rate.
| Item | Approx. cost |
|---|---|
| Return flight, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru or Chennai to KL | ₹18,000 – ₹28,000 |
| KL to Langkawi flight, one way (return by the same route) | ₹4,000 – ₹7,000 |
| Langkawi resort, 3 nights (half the room cost) | ₹15,000 – ₹30,000 |
| Kuala Lumpur hotel, 2 nights (half the room cost) | ₹6,000 – ₹11,000 |
| Food, about ₹1,500 – ₹2,000 a day | ₹8,000 – ₹11,000 |
| Activities, car hire, Grab and airport train | ₹6,000 – ₹10,000 |
| eSIM, insurance, small extras | ₹3,000 – ₹5,000 |
| Total | ₹60,000 – ₹1,00,000 |
Indian operators advertise Langkawi honeymoon packages from about ₹45,000 to ₹52,000 per person on twin sharing, so price the same dates yourself before buying one and check what the package includes.
Day-by-day honeymoon itinerary
Day 1: fly to Langkawi and settle in
Fly to Kuala Lumpur and connect to Langkawi, or look for a one-stop fare. Pick a resort on or near Pantai Cenang for restaurants and nightlife, or the quieter Tanjung Rhu side in the north for privacy. Watch sunset from the beach.
Day 2: cable car and Sky Bridge
Go early to the Langkawi Cable Car at Oriental Village and the curved Sky Bridge on Gunung Mat Cincang, before cloud and queues build. Keep the afternoon for the pool. Check the operator’s site for opening hours and ticket prices, because the bridge can close in bad weather.

Day 3: island hopping or a sunset cruise
Book a private boat or a small-group island-hopping trip for the Pulau Dayang Bunting freshwater lake and a mangrove tour. Prefer a quiet evening? A sunset cruise suits couples better than a full-day group tour. Hire a car or use Grab for the rest; the island is small.
Day 4: fly to Kuala Lumpur
Take a morning flight and check in near KLCC if you want the skyline from your window. In the evening, see the Petronas Twin Towers lit up and walk the park below them. Book the Observation Deck in advance for sunset.

Day 5: city, food and shopping
Visit the Batu Caves early (climbing the temple stairs is free; dress modestly), then eat in Brickfields (Little India) and on Jalan Alor. Spend the afternoon in the Bukit Bintang malls, and end with a rooftop bar or a dinner if the budget allows.
Day 6: fly home
Take the KLIA Ekspres train from KL Sentral to the airport, and aim to be there at least three hours before an international flight.
Honeymoon tips
- Ask the resort about honeymoon extras such as a room upgrade, cake or private dinner when you book, and mention the occasion.
- Dress: beachwear is fine at resorts, but cover up at Batu Caves and mosques.
- Alcohol is expensive in Malaysia and not on sale everywhere, so check your resort’s bar before you assume.
- Money: carry a forex or multi-currency card; don’t depend on UPI at shops.
- Plugs: Malaysia uses the Type G (UK-style) plug, so pack an adapter.
- SIM: an eSIM bought before you land saves queueing at the airport.
- Getting around: Grab works across KL and Langkawi.
Best time to go
December to March is generally the drier, sunnier period on Langkawi, and it overlaps Indian wedding season, so book flights and resorts early. In the wetter months showers are heavier but prices are lower. Kuala Lumpur sees afternoon storms most of the year.

Frequently asked questions
Do Indians need a visa for Malaysia?
Not at the moment. The High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi says the visa waiver for Indian nationals is extended until 31 December 2026, for up to 30 days, for business, tourism, social or transit purposes. For travel after that date, check the High Commission and the Immigration Department before booking, because the waiver has been extended before but is not permanent.
What is the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card and when do I submit it?
The MDAC is a free online arrival form at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my. The High Commission's page says Indian passport holders must submit it three days before the arrival date. Each traveller needs their own, and you should never pay a third-party site to file it.
How many days are enough for a Malaysia honeymoon?
Six days works well: three nights on Langkawi for beaches and the cable car, then two nights in Kuala Lumpur. Add two or three days if you also want the Cameron Highlands or Penang.
How much does a Malaysia honeymoon cost from India?
Roughly ₹60,000 to ₹1,00,000 per person for six days, so about ₹1.2 to ₹2 lakh for a couple, including return flights, a domestic flight to Langkawi, mid-range resorts, food and activities. Villa-style beach resorts push it above that range.
What do immigration officers ask Indians at Malaysian airports?
The High Commission lists a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed return flight ticket, a confirmed hotel booking and the submitted MDAC. Keep printed or offline copies, plus a bank or card statement showing you can fund the stay.
Is Langkawi or Kuala Lumpur better for a honeymoon?
Langkawi for privacy, beaches and sunsets; Kuala Lumpur for food, shopping and city views. Combining them takes one short domestic flight, so most couples do both.
Is Malaysia good for vegetarian couples from India?
Yes, especially in Kuala Lumpur's Brickfields (Little India), where South Indian vegetarian restaurants are common. On Langkawi, resort kitchens can usually cater, but ask about fish sauce, shrimp paste and egg in rice and noodle dishes.
